Inverter Air Conditioners

Air conditioner technology is relatively straight-forward—and has been for many years. But now, with inverter-driven variable speed compressors, air conditioners and heat pumps are seeing big upgrades in efficiency. If you’re planning to upgrade your AC soon, then you might find inverter technology well-worth looking into.

Of course, to ensure that your system operates at its maximum efficiency, it needs to be installed by a licensed and certified HVAC company. Canella Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. is a family of technicians, NATE certified and renowned throughout the Hickory, Catawba Valley, and Unifour areas. We know we’re an HVAC company, but the truth is, we just like to help however we can. Inverter AC installation is just one of the many ways we can do that.

We can install the latest in air conditioning and heat pump technology. Click Canella Heating & Air Conditioning to Get Every Ounce of Comfort You Deserve.

Just What Is an Inverter Air Conditioner?

Inverter air conditioners aren’t much different than other air conditioners. Yet, they’re capable of running much more efficiently. How?

It all comes down to the compressor. In normal air conditioner operation, heat pumps cool or warm your home by cycling between "on" and "off" stages. That means it operates at either 0% or 100%, with no in-between. Although effective, it’s excessive.

Inverter technology allows the compressor to run only at the speed which is necessary. By analyzing the temperature and air conditions in the home, the compressor will reduce or increase its energy output to maximize efficiency and comfort. Not only does this reduce your energy expenses, it can also reduce wear-and-tear since it puts less demand on the system.

Inverters and Heat Pumps in the Winter

Inverter technology is available in a range of air conditioners, but it’s worth noting that it makes a substantial difference specifically in heat pumps. Namely, by allowing them to heat homes even in extremely cold temperatures of Hickory, NC.

Heat pumps typically lose their heating efficiency in temperatures below 30°F. Now, thanks to new operations introduced by variable speed compressors, they can use the warm air much better. These heat pumps are now rated to provide efficient heating in temperatures as low as -13°F.

What to Expect from Inverter AC Installation

Inverter air conditioners are installed the same as any central AC, heat pump, or ductless unit. The technology is a component integrated in the system’s outdoor unit, so you won’t need to anticipate a radically different installation.

However, that doesn’t mean installation of a new inverter AC is any less easy. It takes true professionals to size the air conditioner, perform load calculations, and ensure that the process goes off without a hitch. Since 1990, Canella Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. has performed installations just like this for residents of Hickory, NC and the surrounding areas. We make it a point to treat our customers like family, and that means being there for them when they need us most. No matter what you need, give us a call, and we’ll find a way to help.
