Yes, Your Ductless System Needs Repairs Too

If you are the proud owner of a ductless system, you know just how awesome these systems are — they’re efficient, effective, and can provide year-round comfort with just the flip of a switch! Of course, though, like any HVAC system, your ductless system is going to require repairs from time to time.

There are quite a few repairs unique to ductless systems that we think you should be aware of, so below, we have outlined them for you. All you have to do is keep reading to find out more! And, remember to schedule your air conditioning service in Denver, NC at the first sign of a problem!

Here’s What Could Happen to Your Ductless System

There are a number of unique ductless repairs that you should be aware of:

Water Leaks Behind the Air Handler

Each of the wall-mounted air handlers in your home has a series of connections routed through a hole behind them. These connections include a power line, a refrigerant line, and a condensate. The condensate is responsible for removing water from the cooling process so that it does not enter your home. However, these lines may leak, and when they do, water will begin to collect between the back of the air handler and the wall.

If this problem is ignored for an extended period of time, water damage will cause your wall material to soften, causing the air handler to rip away from the wall and fall to the floor. Not only will you be stuck with the cost of replacing the broken air handler, but you will also have to cover the cost of structural damage to your wall. Therefore, it is important to call a professional for repairs if you notice any signs of water around your air handlers.

Broken Air Handler

Any number of things can cause one of your air handlers to malfunction, including a faulty blower, an electrical issue, or even ice on the coils. Fortunately, an HVAC professional will be able to diagnose the issue!

Of course, when one of the air handlers in your home breaks, it can put a dent in your comfort, however, the remaining air handlers will continue to work normally ( a HUGE benefit of owning a ductless system!). So, if you get too warm, all you have to do is walk to another room in your home to cool off.

Refrigerant Leaks

Okay sure, refrigerant leaks aren’t unique to ductless systems, however, ductless systems are more prone to this issue than other cooling systems — they’ve got more refrigerant lines running through them! Refrigerant leaks can lead to all sorts of other issues, including a full system breakdown, so they’re kind of a big deal!

Fortunately, there are a number of signs that indicate a refrigerant leak, including low cooling output and strange hissing sounds. If you notice signs of a refrigerant leak, it is important to call for professional repairs right away.
