You’ve likely assumed that the reason we recommend this is to improve your overall indoor air quality. We understand why this assumption is made, but it’s actually a little misguided. While whole-house air purifiers and air filtration systems are designed to improve your indoor air quality, the standard HVAC air filter has a different purpose.

Rather than being there to protect your air quality, it’s in place to protect the HVAC system itself from dust, dirt, and other debris that can get inside and damage its sensitive components, and therefore negatively impact the performance of the system.
