Facts you should know about indoor air quality:

DID YOU KNOW: Installing energy efficient equipment can save you money?
There are currently residents in the Greater Hickory area who are now paying 30% less on their energy bills than they did a few years ago. See our solutions.

DID YOU KNOW: Air inside your home may be 10 times more polluted than outside?
The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory reports the following as a conclusion of their research on pollutants: "Many people spend large portion of time indoors - as much as 80-90% of their lives. We work, study, eat, drink and sleep in enclosed environments where air circulation may be restricted. For these reasons, some experts feel that more people suffer from the effects of indoor air pollution than outdoor pollution. Pollution exposure at home and work is often greater than outdoors. The California Air Resources Board estimates that indoor air pollutant levels are 25-62% greater than outside levels and can pose serious health problems." See our solutions.

DID YOU KNOW: Several kinds of insects live off the mold in your home?
The EPA reports: "Molds can be found almost anywhere; they can grow on virtually any organic substance, as long as moisture and oxygen are present. There are molds that can grow on wood, paper, carpet, foods, and insulation. When excessive moisture accumulates in buildings or on building materials, mold growth will often occur, particularly if the moisture problem remains undiscovered or unaddressed. It is impossible to eliminate all mold and mold spores in the indoor environment. However, mold growth can be controlled indoors by controlling moisture indoors." See our solutions.

DID YOU KNOW: Indoor air quality is one of the most urgent environmental risks to public health?
Accroding to the EPA: "A number of well-identified illnesses, such as Legionnaires' disease, asthma, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, and humidifier fever, have been directly traced to specific building problems. These are called building-related illnesses. Most of these diseases can be treated, nevertheless, some pose serious risks." See our solutions.

DID YOU KNOW: Better insulated homes limit natural ventilation and trap indoor contaminants?
The EPA warns: "Weatherization generally does not cause indoor air problems by adding new pollutants to the air. (There are a few exceptions, such as caulking, that can sometimes emit pollutants.) However, measures such as installing storm windows, weather stripping, caulking, and blown-in wall insulation can reduce the amount of outdoor air infiltrating into a home. Consequently, after weatherization, concentrations of indoor air pollutants from sources inside the home can increase." See our solutions.
